ME: I NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

By Pastor Tim Hodge

I want to go on record to state I believe the Holy Spirit is present and very active in His church (the people – not the buildings). I am very dependent upon the Holy Spirit. I could not live or function without Him. I NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Recently, I was volunteering as the on-call chaplain at a local hospital during the midnight to 8:00am shift. Around 2:00am my phone rang. A pleasant nurse informed me she was calling from the labor and delivery unit. A baby had been born at twelve weeks and the heartbeat was lost in the birthing process. The parents were asking for a chaplain to come and baptize their stillborn baby.

I wrote down the pertinent information, gathered myself, and headed to the hospital. I was at a loss. What could I possibly do or say in a situation like that? The entire trip to the hospital I prayed in the Spirit. When I walked in the room there was a supernatural peace with me. The entire visit was wrapped in God. All of us will face circumstances where we need the Holy Spirit. I’m glad He is there when we need Him.
