Psalms 91:1,2 NKJV

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (v2) I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’”
Beloved friends, I want to say something and I’ll not sneak around the bush to make it known: “God is sovereign; He is totally in control.” Borrowing from the Psalmist emphatically stated in the passage above: God is the ALMIGHTY! I trust in THAT!”

GOD-Erosion! Okay, I just coined that term. There is a sweeping movement gaining ground in the United States today that is trying to BRING God down to our level to where we can explain Him (His actions and His motives). This is evident even among those I would have, in days gone by, acknowledged as being very wise in spiritual matters. However, in Matthew 24:14, Jesus informed us that in the last days even the very elect (those held in highest regards for their faith) would be DECEIVED. This fatality of faith I’m referring to as “GOD-Erosion” is demonically inspired and driven in the hearts and minds of men to whittle God down until He fits in whatever we can mentally contain Him in.

This erosion is not like a washout of a hurricane force storm. Rather, it’s like subtle, lapping little rivers of a running creek that seem oh so innocent and mild until one wakes up one day and realizes the banks of the creek have been washed away to the point that things anchored to the banks are now in grave danger (trees, rocks, piers, etc).

Here is one of the thought processes propagated in GOD-Erosion: “If God knows all and He is so loving and just then why would He create someone who would later have to spend eternity in hell?” On the surface some would give a giddy little chuckle at such a question. The reason I use the word “giddy” is because it would be a nervous laughter. Nervous BECAUSE MOST CHRISTIANS DON’T HAVE AN ANSWER.

Most church-goers would respond by parroting off some engrained thought driven into them over the years through sermons where thoughts and cliché verses were repeated over and over and over and over. Due to a lack of discipleship there is no true THEOLOGY (the study of GOD) taking place in most congregations and due to a lack of daily devotional time in prayer, the Word, and personal worship there is a lack of HEART KNOWLEDGE where the Holy Spirit is given access to formulate His answers in our minds.

Well let me alert you to something my dear reader: Our pat answers of “Well, that just isn’t right,” or “Well, my preacher always said…” or “Well, I’ve always been told…” are simply NOT going to be good enough in these days and times. The church of Jesus Christ is not marching out to spiritual battle. Oh no, we LIVE in the battlefield; we need not march anywhere.

There is a vile enemy with sharpened claws and piercing fangs who would like to do nothing more than rip our faith right out of our heart. It’s happening all around us. Don’t worry about “THE” Anti-Christ in bodily form. The spirit of anti-Christ is already at work and has been loosening the reinforcements around our resolve. Even now they are calling into question the sovereignty of God and the justice of God’s loving nature. If you’ve been waiting for the battle, then allow me to give you a warning: THE ENEMY IS ALREADY ALOOF.

Today, God is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. I trust His love. I trust His all-knowing ability. I trust his omnipotence and I believe He is, indeed, all powerful. I trust Him as the God of JUSTICE who extends mercy and redemption to lost mankind. I trust Him in all those things. I believe HE IS GOD, ALMIGHTY!!!!!
