     Think on These Things

        “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7).

Text Box: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8). One step in our freedom in Christ begins in our minds (how we think). Giving our hearts to the Lord is great, but we must also give the Lord our minds as well. How we think determines our actions and/or decisions. Our thoughts can bring victory and they can bring defeat. In II Corinthinas 10:5 we are told to “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” As Barney Pfyfe would say, we have to “nip it in the bud” when it comes to our thoughts. As soon as a thought of despair comes, we must get rid of it; then it can’t become poison to us. The longer we let a despairing thought remain, the more hopeless and helpless we will become. To replace those poisonous thoughts, we must learn to focus on Scriptures such as Philippians 4:8 (above). The strongholds in our minds will no longer have victory
