1 Corinthians 15:13-14, NKJV

“But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. (v14) And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.”

John 11:25-26, NKJV
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (v26) And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’”
Welcome to Easter Sunday at Crossroads World Outreach Center. Today will be a glorious day of celebrating Jesus. We celebrate Jesus every Sunday. We celebrate Jesus every day. Above all, today we celebrate something very special about Jesus: His RESURRECTION.

Jesus Christ came to us as the Son of God conceived in a virgin’s womb. He lived thirty three years of purity doing the will of His Father. He was falsely arrested, falsely accused, and tortured beyond our imagination (beaten by seventy men, whipped by a professional executioner who used a device created for excruciating torment, then used as a mockery and punching doll by 600 Roman soldiers). Finally, they nailed him to a cross where He died of suffocation and loss of blood (as proven historically).
After He died, a spear was plunged into His side to ‘be sure’ He was dead. Then His body was taken down, prepared for burial, and placed in a ‘borrowed’ tomb. I use the word ‘borrowed’ because if one is only going to need something for a short period of time it is only needed to be ‘borrowed.’ This tomb would only be needed for THREE DAYS!!! Several times the gospels make reference to Jesus’ foretelling His death, crucifixion, and resurrection (Matthew 12:39,40; 16:21; 27:62-64; John 2:18-22; 10:17,18).
My friends, Jesus’ whole purpose was for the redemption of mankind; making a way so that whosoever believed upon Him and confess Him as Lord would be SAVED! The proving anchor of the entire gospel is the resurrection! Everything in the Bible and history of the Church revolves around one crucial historical fact: THE RESURRECTION!
Notice the passage I opened with: “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.” Ponder the converse of this verse: If the resurrection IS TRUE then our FAITH is full and overflowing. It has been said, “If the tomb is empty, anything is possible.”

Everything Jesus both said and did was anchored in the RESURRECTION experience. That tomb is empty. On the third day He rose again – JUST LIKE HE SAID! Today, He’s alive and well. He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1:3) and He lives forevermore to pray for His people (Hebrews 7:25).

All of that is of no effect if the resurrection is NOT the truth and we who have placed our trust in Him are hopeless. However, if the resurrection IS THE TRUTH then we who believe in Him are full of glorious hope that is greater than anything in this world. I rest my life in trusting the fact of the resurrection as being the earth-shaking event accomplished by the power of GOD.

Here are three things to remember today:

Jesus came to redeem mankind.
The resurrection from the dead is the anchor of number one.
He lives forevermore… with a PURPOSE.
