Growth is GROWTH!

By Pastor Tim Hodge

On Thursday, THE STATE newspaper ran an article entitled: LOSING FAITH: Why South Carolina is abandoning its churches. You can Google the article and read it. In one sense it could be disparaging. On another note, I personally found it invigorating because it DOES NOT apply to us at CWOC.

Here is one quote from the article: “The reality is that 80-plus percent of (S.C. Southern Baptist) churches are plateaued or declining, meaning they haven’t grown by any measurable percentage in 10 years, or they’ve actually lost membership” (Jay Hardwick).

Just a few weeks ago I shared some stats on our attendance from the past three years at CWOC. Our 2018 attendance through June compared to 2016 shows a 16.5% INCREASE. 2018 compared to 2017 showed    another 16% increase. Those numbers may not excite a lot of people, but when we compare them to what is happening in southern church culture we should see ourselves as a ray of Kingdom sunshine. We thank God for what HE is doing. He is giving us grace and wisdom to make an IMPACT in people’s lives.
