UNFOCUS!

A crazy thing happened this morning. I got to CWOC around 5am to start getting things lined up for our Tailgate Ministry onsite team. I walked into the kitchen and the chafing pan box and the big red storage box we carry stuff in was sitting on the table near the door. I proceeded to check the chafing burners (and put new ones in) and then I did a quick inventory of the big red box to see if anything needed to be resupplied. I put the biscuits in the oven. I put coffee on. Then I took the two boxes out to the truck. Finally, I came in, sat down, and enjoyed a cup of coffee.
Pat Hicks came in later and one of the first things she said was, “What a beautiful lily.” I was puzzled so I asked, “Where?” She pointed over to the table I’d been laboriously buzzing around while working with the two boxes. I turned around and sure enough – there was a beautiful lily in a vase poised right in the middle of the table. I was so focused on other things I didn’t even see it.
How many things of beauty have we missed this week because we were so FOCUSED on the task at hand? Maybe it’s time to UNFOCUS and take a better look around us. How much have we missed from the Holy Spirit? Yeah, let’s UNFOCUS on the TO-DO list and focus more on HIM!
